10 points if you can guess what we’re doing this week? Yup, you guessed it, I’m posting from the trenches of potty training. Molly, not Alfie. We’re not quite into the whole Elimination Communication thing….
So far it’s well….probably everything potty training should be. Exhausting, flippin’ boring and bizzare. Who knew you could get so excited and yet soooo peed off (ahem) about wee and poo?! But thank goodness for H&M and their fantastic knickers, I mean who can honestly say they wouldn’t want a dog wearing a bow tie on their underwear?! Yeh. Thought so.
There’s a huge Heart Chart attached to the back of the front door and endless M&M’s have been consumed thus far. It was going to be a traditional (and normal) star chart but I realised I only had a heart stamper cutter thing and there was no way I was cutting out a trillion and one stars by hand. So heart it is. It does help that Molly can say the actual word for heart as supposed to Kwunkle…. yup, that means ‘star’. Hmm.
I have absolutely no idea whether it’s working or not, but I guess we’ll keep at it for a while and see if it somehow miraculously falls into place. We’re having our first outing tomorrow afternoon (I’m going stir crazy). Alfie has his 4 month check up (1. Where did those 4 months go?! 2. We are so rock and roll!) and I figure there’s no better place to be going for your first knicker-wearing outing than the pediatrician. They’re plenty used to wee and poo and all that stuff. Lucky them. Let’s hope Molly doesn’t decide to pinch a loaf somewhere obscure like the play fridge or something. *Shudder*
In other news, I have managed to do something other than boring child care stuff. Another blanket, hurrah! This time with triangles and rounded corners. It’s a first. I kind of like it, what do you think?
It’s for a precious little baby called Martha who very bravely underwent a small op at just a few weeks old. This is her ‘You’re fab’ gift. Hope she likes it!
Aside from the ever so (un)interesting potty training, not much else has been going on. I’m forever trying to get a decent photo of the little’uns together. Molly does this oh-so-wonderful smile which makes pictures, well, erm, interesting….
Alfie’s still working on his sitting….woooaahhh!
but he’s doing pretty well on his tummy, thanks to Mortimer the Moose. We love and highly recommend the lamaze toys, Freddie and Mortimer are practically family members here!
Right, I’m sure I’ve bored you enough. Off to do some more laundry…..uhhh…..
Until next time, when perhaps we’ll be out of the trenches, thanks for stopping by. x
