Merry Christmas to all!

In the fanticness of prepping for Christmas, it’s so easy to skip over the reality of it entirely. Why do we celebrate? What’s it all about? Who is it for? The children, we so often hear. Well, if that’s true, then, GREAT news! Because the gift of Christmas calls us all to be children, so why shouldn’t we enjoy it and celebrate as such? Here! Here!

I do love Christmas. I love the sentimentality of it and yes, the child-like giddiness that overcomes me at points. This year, I went all American and went crazy for the Christmas cookies (or should that be biscuits?!). Baking at Christmas is a big deal everywhere but there’s something about the Christmas cookie, and the decorating of it, that just feels so American to me…. perhaps 2.5 years of living state-side is starting to have an effect on me… πŸ™‚

In attempt to continually love our neighbours (not hard, they’re amazing) this year, the cookies went to them (and a few to my girl friends too)…

I love the way this one is cocking his head, I can imagine if he was wearing a hat he’d tip it slightly as he walked by…

These gingerbread men are made using my great granny’s recipe. I’m not sure whether it’s a secret…but perhaps it should be, because they’re scrumptious!

I couldn’t help but laugh as I was photographing this little chaps…the more I looked at them, then more they began to look like gingerbread zombies… go on…take a closer look…it’s really quite freaky!

Packaged up with packaging goodness from paper source (drooooool…) and they’re ready to go.

Merry Christmas one and all… and with cheesy grin (that almost said ‘gin’ for a minute…Jesus loves you! πŸ™‚
