Well, well, well, this year is turning into quite the baby boom! It’s marvellous! So many pregnant people…we are one of 15 couples that we know who are having or have had a baby this year. Amazing!
Will we all get the baby names we want, or will someone pip us to the post? It really is difficult to name a baby, especially when names tend to trend. How do you find a name so that when the little one goes to school it isn’t just one of 10 kids with the same name?
Well, luckily, help is at hand! Jake, in all his internet wisdom stumbled across this interesting read….
Remind me to add Hashtag to our list.
When we were searching for a name for Molly we came across all sorts of crazy names and pronunciations, my favourite being L’-sha (pronounced Ladasha). Genius!
Anyway… our wonderful friends Helen and Hobson kicked off The Year of the Baby when Austin William was born in February. He’s a beauty! We’re yet to meet but we’ve had many an intimate skype date and I’m officially in love. Austin and I share a special connection because we were born in the same hospital in Bristol, only 28 years apart.
….And it only took me until April 25 to finish his baby gift, but it’s finally finished and I really darn proud of this one.
I’m really into red white and blue at the moment. It’s all I’m craving on the decorating front and all I am drawn towards when fabric shopping. This latest batch of red white and blue is simply gorgeous and I’m very excited that there is enough left over to make a decent amount of bunting for the kids new bedroom. Woo!
With Austin’s parents both having military backgrounds, the red white and blue seemed kind of fitting too, and it was only right to add to polka dot fleece to the back and make sure his name was on it so that none of his friends try to steel it. Although I have to be honest, it took quite alot for me not to embroider ‘Maddy’ on the back and Jake has already asked if I can make a giant one for our new room.
Hope you like it Austin!
In other news, we took Molly on her first ride on Jane’s Carousel in the Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday. It’s fair to say that I enjoyed it way more than she did!
It was lovely to see it bustling with folk and birthday parties, especially after the flood damange from Sandy last October…
Thankfully the water damage could be fixed and Jane’s Carousel is back in full swing for all to enjoy.
And now another weekend is upon us… here’s for sunny fun times one and all!
Until next time, thanks for stopping by. x
